This past Sunday Tony Horton appeared on Kirstie Alley's Big Life.
I have to admit that I have never seen the show before, but I know it must be really difficult to struggle with your weight in full view of the public.
One of the interesting things about this episode is how many infomercial products her buddy, Jim, had bought that had done them no good. That's the way most people think about infomercial products -- that they are just a bunch of junk and are a waste of your money.
The thing about Beachbody products is that what they claim is totally true. And you really do get out of it what you put in. You may not get the body you want after one round of P90X, Insanity, or Turbo Jam, but you keep going. One of the things I love about Beachbody infomercials is that they are user-generated. That is, you see the home video testimonials of people who have had success with the products. And if you simply type the product name into You Tube, you'll get tons more results of people sharing their journey and how things are going for them.
Since Kirstie Alley is a celebrity, she gets the opportunity to have Tony Horton train her right in her home. Great deal. For the rest of us, we can get Tony in our homes through his workouts.
If you are ever feeling self-conscious about whether or not you can keep up with the DVDs, Tony says "Bring your best and forget the rest." That's all you need to do. It's okay to modify the exercises because eventually you will be strong enough to do the moves along with the DVDs.

According to a recent issue of Oxygen Magazine (January 2010 issue), Americans consume 22 teaspoons of sugar in a day.
If that is not troubling enough, those 22 teaspoons add up to 352 extra calories every day, 128,480 calories each year which is the same as 37 pounds!
So, while you're reading your labels, be sure to check sugar's aliases:
corn sweetener
dextrose
maltodextrin
fructose
molasses
high fructose corn syrup
maltose
sucrose
Now, not all of these sources of sugar are the best, they are also not the worst. Do your research before deciding what you can and cannot have in your diet. Use this list to be more aware of where sugar is lurking in your food.
Oxygen suggests the following exercises to burn off 352 calories (based on a 130 lb woman):
punch a heavy bag for 60 minutes
play 40 minutes of intense soccer
fence for an hour
kayak for 75 minutes
cross country ski for 32 minutes
waltz for two hours

After all, if it's worth having, then it's worth working for. Okay, I'm done with the cliches, but you know what I mean.
Above all else, make this the year you have some accountability and believe in yourself.
